Staff Accountant

Located in Carol Stream, IL, the Staff Accountant role supports the organization’s financial integrity through the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records. This position acts as a business partner for the ITW Graphics IDS accounting team and external stakeholders, including banks, customers, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of fixed assets.
• Create financial backups for CIP projects.
• Enter CIP projects into the CAPEX site and manage the process.
• Track costs to ensure adherence to capital budgets; escalate discrepancies.
• Capitalize assets once fully operational, paid, and signed off.
• Run monthly depreciation, post entries, and reconcile.
• Process weekly/biweekly payroll:
  • Pull payroll reports weekly.
  • Combine weekly payroll for monthly journal entries (verify commission).
  • Verify reports match bank payouts.
  • Calculate and post accrued payroll entries.
• Maintain and record site purchase and travel cards:
  • Approve for final payment to the bank.
  • Export P-card and travel card data to create monthly expense journal entries.
• Perform monthly accruals and reconciliations:
  • Vacation accruals.
  • Monthly benefit entries.
  • LTO/CAP deferred revenue.
  • Interest income reconciliations.
  • Prepaid accounts.
  • Accrued liabilities.
• Monitor service contracts:
  • Create new service contracts.
  • End or cancel expiring contracts.
  • Maintain an accurate list of service items.
• Provide backup for accounts payable (invoice entry) and accounts receivable (cash application, invoice & credit creation) activities.
• Apply ITW Principles (80/20 and USa) to eliminate complexity and improve profitability.
• Undertake other projects and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred, or five years of accounting study with related practical experience, including significant computer utilization.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Analytical, inquisitive, and clear in explaining the story behind the numbers.
• Ability to understand macro and micro trends and quickly identify inaccuracies.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal/written) with customers, suppliers, and employees.
• Ability to deliver results through others and exercise independent, sound judgment under tight deadlines.
• Enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to function under minimal supervision.
• Proven track record of collaboration, personal accountability, effective listening, and approachability.
• Proven ability to apply ITW principles in a financial environment.

Pay

$28–$33 per hour.
