Staff Accountant
We’re seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing finance and accounting team. You’ll work directly on the core accounting team and partner with tax, accounts payable, technical accounting/financial reporting, and financial planning & analysis teams.
Responsibilities
- Use approved AI tools to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency across core accounting workflows, reconciliations, journal entries, flux analysis, and close documentation while applying strong professional judgment
- Propose and implement process improvements, including thoughtful use of AI and automation, to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort
- Perform month-end closing activities and reconciliations for various accounts/processes (e.g., cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, vendor accruals, credit cards)
- Cross-train in most staff accountant areas to create leverage on the team
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile account balances, ensuring accurate supporting records and documentation
- Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual balance sheet and P&L flux analyses
- Prepare documentation/support needed for SOX compliance
- Assist the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team with explaining budget vs. actual variances
- Help with preparation of audit and review packages for external auditors
- Support ad hoc projects across all aspects of the accounting function
Requirements
- Curious, learning-oriented mindset with a willingness to experiment with AI tools, iterate on results, and share learnings with teammates
- Ability to independently identify opportunities for automation and thoughtful AI use, with familiarity (or enthusiasm for learning) various tools
- 0–2+ years of relevant accounting experience; new graduates with strong AI project experience, relevant coursework, or demonstrated ability to apply emerging technology to accounting and finance problems are welcome
- Proficiency in Excel is required; NetSuite, FloQast, and Coupa are a plus
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves when work needs to get done
- Self-driven and goal-oriented, with the ability to work independently, identify process improvements, and implement solutions
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where priorities evolve
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Pay
Annual cash compensation range: $64,000—$96,000 USD. This includes base salary, on-target commission for eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan. Some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

Schedule
