Staff Accountant

About the role
The Staff Accountant will perform a variety of general accounting and financial reporting tasks. This individual must have a good working knowledge of AP, AR, GL, account reconciliations, financial reporting, intercompany accounting, and program/job costing. The role requires excellent knowledge of accounting concepts and the adherence to established policies and procedures while exercising creativity to assess problems and recommend solutions.
Responsibilities
- Performs monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner
- Reconciles bank accounts, credit card transactions, and intercompany accounts
- Prepares and posts monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and other recurring transactions
- Assists team with monthly close and associated monthly reporting
- Supports accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
- Identifies areas of improvement and potential cost savings
- Develops MS Excel models to summarize large data sets
- Participates in preparation and review of audit materials and work papers as required for internal and external audits
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Teams, and Outlook and in using Accounting related computer systems to setup queries, enter data and process information
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive financial and government contract information
- Performs other accounting and finance related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or working towards degree
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting is required
- Advanced MS Excel skills are required
- Strong computer skills to include Microsoft (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, etc.)
- Experience with DCAA/DCMA audits is a plus
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system preferred
- International experience is a plus
- Knowledge of SmartSheet a plus
