We are looking for a team-oriented individual who possesses excellent organizational skills, great attention to detail, and strong communication skills. The Staff Accountant position will be primarily working within the general ledger and processing payroll. This position reports to the Controller and the Director of Human Resources. The annual salary range for this position is $50,000-$60,000 based on years of experience and education level; the exact compensation will be discussed during the hiring process. Major Duties And Responsibilities General Ledger Monthly reconciliation of complex bank account and other General Ledger accountsAssists with monthly closing process by preparing and recording journal entries and monthly reconciliations of general ledger accountsMonthly distribution of General Ledger reports to budget managers and responding to all related questionsCash receipts: receiving, recording, and depositingMonthly filing of sales and use tax returnsAssists with preparations for annual financial auditImporting student billing charges and related electronic cash receiptsResponsible for distributing and reconciling petty cash and student bank accountsManage school issued credit cards to include recording, confirming and reconciling expensesAssist with other projects as needed Payroll Process bi-weekly payrolls for hourly and salaried employeesReconcile payroll related general ledger accounts and monthly insurance billingsAssist Director of Human Resources with other tasks Qualifications B.S. degree in AccountingMinimum of 3 years accounting experience, including payroll processing experienceHighly proficient in MS ExcelAbility to work proactively and independentlyStrong interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task and work in a high volume environment with frequent interruptionsMust possess a positive and professional attitude and enjoy working with peopleGFS seeks candidates who will contribute to and are committed to diversity and multicultural educational practices.
