Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of all accounting tasks, ensuring all journal entries and transactions are supported by detailed documentation and backup.
• Perform monthly General Ledger closes, including preparation of closing entries and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• Manage AP intake and coding of vendor invoices in Bill.com.
• Review expenses in Xero and handle monthly accruals for payroll and other liabilities.
• Prepare client invoices and monthly statements.
• Support collection follow-up and maintain accurate AR aging logs.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor balances across all accounts.
• Aid with inter-bank transfers.
• Serve as the primary owner for all annual audit Prepared-By-Client (PBC) fulfillment, ensuring timely and complete documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of income tax returns, quarterly state franchise tax estimates, and annual 1099 filings.
• Maintain a high standard of data integrity with zero tolerance for errors. Proactively validate and cross-check all data sources to ensure alignment before transaction entry and reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of general ledger accounting experience with high attention to detail
• Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables, Claude AI plugin) and experience with GL systems like Xero
• Self-starter mentality with an inclination for independent problem-solving and process improvement
• Fintech industry/payments experience is a plus to have
