Staff Accountant
About the role
The Elevator Pitch Evolv is seeking a Staff Accountant to support its financial operations and ensure the integrity and accuracy of its accounting records. This role is ideal for someone with up to 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably from a Big 4 or public company, to join a high-growth organization and build foundational skills in financial reporting and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Understand the organizational structure and your responsibilities within Evolv.
- Build relationships within the Accounting team and key internal partners.
- Understand Evolv's accounting policies, processes, systems (NetSuite, Salesforce, Workiva, Blackline), and internal controls.
- Take ownership of month-end close tasks, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Ensure timely execution of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and contribute to remediating any material weaknesses.
- Research technical accounting matters, such as new accounting standards and business transactions.
- Support the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q/K, Proxy Statement, 8-K, and others.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects and deepen your understanding of team roles and responsibilities.
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of Evolv's SOX control framework, with full remediation of material weaknesses in your area.
- Lead technical accounting research and clearly communicate findings across the business.
- Help accelerate close timelines and improve reporting accuracy.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to peers, sharing your technical knowledge and promoting a collaborative team culture.
- Confidently respond to auditor inquiries during quarterly reviews and the annual audit.
- Approach challenges with curiosity and a solution-oriented mindset—actively identifying opportunities to improve processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- Up to 1-3 years of relevant accounting experience; Big 4 and/or public company experience preferred but not required.
- CPA or CPA track is a plus, but not required.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus).
- Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment through a public accounting firm or publicly traded company preferred.
- Experience serving as a point of contact for external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.

Pay
The base salary range for this full-time position is $65,000 - $103,000. In addition to base salary, this role offers a competitive target bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
Schedule
This role is based out of the HQ in Waltham, Massachusetts, with a minimum of 3 days per week flexibility on being remote some days.
