Staff Accountant

About the role

The Staff Accountant will work in our Anchorage office, preparing and recording journal entries, account reconciliations, and detailed reports. This position supports month-end close, audits, and special projects under the supervision of the Assistant Corporate Controller. Candidates with the right combination of education, experience, and performance may progress into a Senior Accountant role.

Responsibilities

• Daily tracking and analysis of cash position
• Develop weekly cash forecasts
• Maintain new supplier and customer files
• Fixed asset accounting and reconciliation
• Lease accounting and reconciliation
• Banking and balance sheet reconciliation
• Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial information to ensure integrity
• Participate in external and internal audits
• 1099-MISC and fuel tax reporting
• Ad hoc projects and additional financial reporting as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other applicable field
• At least 2 years of accounting work experience, preferably in the construction/manufacturing industries
• Knowledge of GAAP, including Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and MS Office suite, particularly Outlook and Excel (intermediate level)
• Experience with JDE, Sage, Timberline, or other enterprise construction industry software is a plus
• Highly motivated, positive, professional, organized, diligent, and an effective communicator
