Staff Accountant

About The Role Bee Line is looking for a sharp, hands-on Staff Accountant to join our Chicago accounting team, working on-site with our accounting leadership and Contracts Officer. You'll be in the numbers every day: supporting the month-end close, preparing reconciliations and journal entries, running AP, AR, and invoicing, and helping price new business. Being in the office means faster learning, direct access to leadership, and real exposure to how a growing, contract-driven service company runs. What You'll Do Core Accounting Support month-end, quarterly, and year-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entriesPrepare bank and balance sheet account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentationProcess customer invoicing and track accounts receivable and collectionsProcess vendor invoices and assist with vendor payments (AP)Assist with payroll accounting, including payroll uploads and trend reviewHelp manage prepaid expenses and fixed asset schedulesResearch and resolve billing and accounting discrepanciesContribute to GAAP-compliant financial statements and help with variance analysis Growth Opportunities Learn our ERP and accounting systems and help improve processes and controlsBuild toward greater ownership of the close and financial reporting over time What We're Looking For 3+ years of accounting experience (staff accountant, senior accountant, or strong bookkeeper with accounting depth)Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, and journal entriesSolid experience with AP, AR, and invoicingWorking knowledge of GAAPStrong Excel skills (XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF statements, PivotTables, linking worksheets, and reviewing existing formulas)Exceptional attention to detail: you check your work, catch errors, and question numbers that don't make senseAbility to manage multiple deadlines and work independentlyComfort learning new systems and stepping into an existing ERP quicklyStrong communication and follow-throughAbility to work on-site at our Chicago office full time (this position is not remote or hybrid) Preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceExperience in a service-based, multi-site, or contract-driven businessPayroll accounting experienceExperience with pricing, bid, or cost-model work (a plus, not required) Why Join Us You'll get real exposure to the whole accounting function, not a narrow slice, and you'll work side by side with leadership who value accuracy and initiative.
