Reports to: Accounting Manager
Responsibilities
- Performs accounting responsibilities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Prepares month-end closing journal entries and general ledger (GL) account reconciliations and investigates discrepancies in account balances.
- Assists senior accounting personnel with preparation and compilation of monthly and year-end financial reporting support schedules for all Austal USA entities.
- Prepares reports and supporting documentation for account reconciliations.
- Assists with tagging and tracking of fixed assets.
- Coordinates and liaises with external and internal auditors/reviewers to ensure compliance with proper reporting requirements and deadlines.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned by Finance Management.
- Maintains written policy and procedures for area of responsibility.
- Maintains compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Ability to go in the shipyard, including off-site warehouse(s) and Austal’s West Campus, and conduct interviews. This includes physically climbing stairs and moving safely through construction areas on and off vessels.
Requirements
- BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with 0-3 years of experience in a related field, preferably in manufacturing or corporate accounting.
- Proficient computer and technical aptitude to utilize MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR, IFRS, GAAP, and CAS.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams/organizations with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
- Flexible and capable of delivering results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of personal accountability.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance if deemed necessary.
- 18 years of age or older at time of application.
- Able to provide proof of US Person Status.
- No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date.
- No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date.
- Willing to submit to a drug screen.
- Willing to submit to a background check.
Work Environment

- Regularly exposed to humid conditions, bright flashing lights, moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat.
- Occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles at or below the PEL, toxic or caustic chemicals, and heat and cold.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud, +90dB.
