About the role
Ascend Vision Partners is building a differentiated integrated eye-care platform focused on superior patient care delivered through our network of optometrists and ophthalmologists. The Staff Accountant supports the finance and accounts-payable departments by preparing and reconciling financial records, assisting with audits, and collaborating across departments to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Foster a positive and successful working environment, partnering with team members, leadership, and providers.
- Assist with general ledger, accounts payable, and financial reporting processes; adhere to monthly and year-end financial statement close schedule.
- Prepare and post journal entries, analyze account balances for variances, reconcile financial transactions, general ledger balances, and financial records.
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy through proper application of accounting principles and adherence to GAAP and other healthcare-specific guidelines.
- Assist in the annual budget process; prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and performance metrics.
- Participate in internal and external financial audits as needed.
- Partner with leaders and other departments to improve financial processes and support overall organizational goals; identify and implement strategies to optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Perform daily hands-on invoice entry, vendor account review, weekly vendor payments, banking activity, and assigned general ledger account reconciliations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum of three years of related experience in accounting.

- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data, identify patterns, and develop actionable insights.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
- Self-starter who takes initiative to promote efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of NetSuite accounting software.
- Working knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial statements, and cash flow.
- Experience in a Private Equity setting and healthcare.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure.
