Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll accurately, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Reconcile payroll provider reports to the General Ledger.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, including paystubs, deductions, tax withholdings, garnishments, and child support reporting.
• Support benefits-related payroll deductions and reporting as needed.
• Assist with the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and maintaining accrual schedules.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all corporate accounts.
• Oversee corporate credit card imports, ensuring expenses are coded correctly and receipts are attached.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances as needed.
• Support accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Manage the full-cycle Accounts Payable process, including vendor setup, invoice coding, approval workflows, and payment scheduling.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Serve as the primary owner of the accounting email inbox, monitoring, organizing, and routing invoices and inquiries to the appropriate departments.
• Aid in year-end 1099 preparation and reporting.
• Act as a key contributor in maintaining organized, efficient accounting workflows.
• Support continuous improvement of accounting processes, controls, and documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and timely communication.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Accounting or currently pursuing an Accounting degree.
• 1+ years of experience in a corporate or staff accounting role.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting fundamentals.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs required).
• High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies in large data sets.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines, especially during month-end close.
