Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Aid in the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and entities, as well as payroll taxes, W-2s, and 1099s
• Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and bank reconciliations for various small business clients and individuals
• Calculate and process high volume payroll, including taxes and deductions
• Handle complex tax notices, audits, and correspondence with government agencies as needed
• Aid in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements (income statements, balance sheets) for review by CPAs
• Utilize QuickBooks Online to automate and streamline bookkeeping processes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field a plus
• Active Enrolled Agent (EA) certification a plus
• 2+ years of relevant tax, accounting or bookkeeping experience in a public accounting or corporate environment
• Experience using QuickBooks Online and processing high volume payroll
• Experience using UltraTax CS for tax preparation a plus
