About the role
A detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Staff Accountant is sought to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general accounting, tax preparation, payroll processing, and financial reporting. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records while maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions to ensure accuracy and timely processing.
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries; maintain accurate general ledger accounts and perform account reconciliations.
- Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, management reports, and other accounting reports, and communicate financial results to management.
- Analyze financial data and summarize financial performance, trends, and variances to support informed business decisions.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Process payroll and ensure timely and accurate payroll tax filings, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including payroll, sales and use, business, and other required tax filings.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develop, document, and improve accounting procedures, business processes, and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency and safeguard company assets.
- Identify accounting discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to improve financial procedures and support cross-functional initiatives.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and support to management and other departments as needed.
- Participate in departmental planning, budgeting, forecasting, and goal-setting activities.
- Perform additional accounting, financial, and administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Five years or more of related experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant designation highly preferred.
Skills

- Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related business software.
- Experience using accounting software, including QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, and other ERP systems.
- Experience preparing business and payroll tax filings.
- Hands-on experience processing payroll accurately and efficiently.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain the confidentiality of company and client information.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision for computer work.
- Light to moderate lifting may be required.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required, including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
- Moderate noise (e.g., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
- Ability to work in a confined area.
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
Pay
$74,000 - $77,000 annually
