Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Prepare routine and recurring journal entries, including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications to ensure accurate monthly and annual financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Serve as a backup for the senior accountant in areas such as bank reconciliation, meal plan accounting, student medical charges, tuition insurance and course materials bundle reconciliations.
- Affiliate in reviewing monthly fixed asset additions and depreciation, and prepare the related journal entries.
- Assist in monitoring fund balances, restricted accounts and project related transactions as needed.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Affiliate with annual audit preparation, including responding to auditor requests and gathering required data.
- Participate in the review and improvement of accounting procedures, processes and internal controls.
- Affiliate with researching accounting issues and documenting conclusions in accordance with established accounting policies.
- Work with outside partners to prepare and submit for payment all income share reconciliations and payments, as per contacts.
