Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications for assigned areas of the close.
- Own monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts; investigate and resolve variances timely.
- Review and resolve coding errors and miscoded transactions to maintain general ledger integrity.
- Maintain audit-ready supporting documentation for all journal entries and reconciliations.
- Support timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Partner with the Senior Accountant on more complex transactions and technical accounting questions.
- Partner with operating teams (Sales, Customer Success, Operations) on accounting questions and account-level issues.
- Communicate accounting outcomes clearly to non-finance partners.
- Identify opportunities to streamline recurring reconciliation, journal preparation, and reporting workflows.
- Develop and document SOPs for assigned recurring deliverables to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Contribute to AI-enabled automation across recurring accounting workflows.
- Support external audit requests, PBC schedules, and walkthroughs across assigned areas.
- Take on stretch assignments and ad hoc projects assigned by the Accounting Manager.
- Provide coverage and backup support across the Accounting team during peak periods and month-end close.
- Maintain professional accounting standards, judgment, and discipline across all assigned work.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–4 years of accounting experience (staff accountant, AR, AP, billing, or general ledger).
- Skills: Strong working proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis); working knowledge of U.S. GAAP fundamentals and standard accounting principles; working fluency with NetSuite or comparable mid-market ERP, particularly journal entry and reconciliation workflows preferred; strong attention to detail with ability to manage multiple recurring deliverables and competing deadlines; excellent written and verbal communication skills with both finance and non-finance partners; Active progress toward CPA, CMA, or related professional designation preferred; Comfort using AI / LLM-based tools to accelerate analytical and operational workflows.
