About the role
The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Divisional Accounting close team and is responsible for executing a broad range of accounting activities supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for U.S. and international entities.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, record, and review recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, reversals, and foreign currency-related entries.
- Support close activities for multiple entities, including domestic and international subsidiaries.
- Perform detailed balance sheet account reconciliations across cash, receivables, intercompany accounts, prepaids, accrued payroll, stock-based compensation, taxes, and other accounts.
- Maintain ownership of assigned account reconciliations, including preparation, documentation, and timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Ensure reconciliations comply with SOX and internal control standards.
- Participate in quarterly review of account reconciliation logs and follow-up on open items.
- Aid in financial reporting, including variance analysis and monthly GL review activities.
- Support consolidation activities and internal reporting schedules.
- Aid in SOX control execution, documentation, and evidence retention.
- Support internal and external audit requests, including Big 4 audit and quarterly review procedures.
- Help ensure journal entries are recorded in the correct period and comply with accounting policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve, standardize, and document accounting processes and internal controls.
- Support ERP-related activities, including Oracle-based journal entry processing and reports.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, Payroll, AP, and HR teams.
- Respond to ad hoc requests and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- Experience: 1–3 years of Corporate or Public Accounting experience.
- Experience: Experience supporting monthly close, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Skills & Competencies: Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with Tier 1 ERP systems (Oracle preferred); strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
