Staff Accountant / Accounts Payable

The Kona Kai San Diego Resort is a boutique urban resort located on Shelter Island. With 170 guestrooms, Vessel Restaurant + Bar, SpaTerre, a marina, and a private club, it's just minutes from downtown San Diego. We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant / Accounts Payable to join our team.

About the role

This role reports to the Director of Finance and Controller. It involves processing high-volume Accounts Payable invoices, matching PO-Invoice-Receiver records, maintaining vendor information, ensuring compliance with internal control policies, serving as the hotel general cashier, preparing daily marina deposits, maintaining accounts payable files, completing monthly accruals, and issuing annual 1099s.

Responsibilities

• Process high volume Accounts Payable invoices and pay vendors within terms
• Three-way match (PO-Invoice-Receiver) must match disbursement record
• Vendor maintenance (COI, w-9, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with NHHR internal control policies and procedures relating to Accounts Payable
• Serve as hotel general cashier and prepare daily marina deposit to the bank
• Maintain accurate and detailed accounts payable files
• Complete monthly A/P accruals as required (purchase orders, checklist, invoice)
• Issue annual 1099s to IRS/Vendors

Requirements

• 1-3 years of prior high volume Accounts Payable experience
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Time Management skills to complete all work in allotted time
• Excellent attention to details to meet both internal and external client needs
• Excellent problem resolution skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
