About the role
Student Support Services (TRIO) seeks an empathic, socially-skilled graduate student—particularly one who can relate to the background(s) of our students—to fill this position, with a strong preference for students with training and/or experience working with college students.
Responsibilities
- Assist with contacting incoming first-year students to explain the program and serve as a resource prior to the start of courses.
- Provide data entry support, assemble files, and assist with filing.
- Meet individually with current SSS students as needed.
- Plan and collaborate to facilitate workshops.
- Share knowledge and information related to applying to graduate school.
- Research scholarship opportunities for SSS students.
- Collaborate with staff to design and host program events.
- Introduce SSS students to campus and community resources.
- Be a student leader for SSS Peer Mentors.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to work as a team.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Adept at Microsoft Suite, Canva, and Adobe Pro.
- Ability and comfort in learning to utilize new software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will be given to those with experience participating in or working with TRIO programs (e.g., Upward Bound, Talent Search, Student Support Services and/or McNair Scholars Program).
Physical Demands
Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy office and University environment.
