Sr. Water Systems Engineer, DC Design Engineering

About the role

This role involves influencing water chemistry and treatment, coordinating with design engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance for AWS global data centers. Responsibilities include performing and overseeing project-related work, defining, designing, detailing, and documenting water treatment features.

Responsibilities

• Drive improvement of design standards and project approaches across the organization.
• Review concept designs and designs in progress with third-party vendors to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements, and AHJ requirements.
• Provide high-quality water treatment advice on a wide variety of projects globally, aligning with global Mechanical engineering teams.
• Coordinate with construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to address requests for information and value engineering queries.
• Ensure code compliance, design and installation standards, water supply evaluation and assessment, testing, inspections, and submittal review. Meet with AHJs as needed to ensure approval of water treatment features.
• Up to 25% travel may be required.

Requirements

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Experience with water treatment design for industrial water, domestic water, and wastewater.
