Sr. Underwriting Consultant

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Underwriting Consultant to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will focus on evaluating complex risks, making sound underwriting decisions, and supporting profitable growth within established authority levels. The position partners closely with sales and service teams to align products and plans with underwriting guidelines and business objectives. It also serves as a trusted mentor and resource for less experienced underwriters while contributing to process improvement and workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate new and existing business within authority levels
• Make sound underwriting decisions for profitable growth
• Partner with sales and service teams on optimal products and plans
• Analyze complex risks to meet underwriting guidelines
• Monitor risk trends and recommend solutions
• Build and maintain strong relationships with partners
• Serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced underwriters
• Participate in process improvement and workflow efficiency initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years of underwriting or related insurance experience
• Proven experience with complex underwriting decisions
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and risk management
• Understanding of financial impact on business performance
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Effective coaching and mentoring abilities

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $140,000 – $160,000 annually
