Responsibilities

  • Independently prepares, or reviews work of others, as applicable for all US consolidated corporate income tax returns (federal and state) and other related returns.
  • Prepares and computes quarterly income tax estimates.
  • Conducts tax research & planning assignments.
  • Maintains general ledger balances of selected tax accounts, including performing related quarterly reconciliations.
  • Works closely with accounting and other groups to obtain and validate information for income tax preparation.
  • Reviews and analyzes tax books within the fixed asset system, including reconciliation of any GAAP books and tax books differences.
  • Prepares domestic reporting for foreign entities.
  • Optimizes state and federal business tax credits with limited guidance.
  • Assists with due diligence on acquisitions.
  • Assists in developing responses for requests related to all Federal and State audits as well as gathering necessary information.
  • Maintains knowledge and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and their impact to the company.
  • Assists with documentation and implementation of tax policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Master’s degree in taxation and CPA very desirable.
  • Three to four years of experience in the tax area.
  • Experience at a public accounting firm is preferred.
  • Extensive and proven independent experience in federal consolidated returns (preparation and review).
  • Multi-state tax background.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of accounting and financial statements.
  • Experience with accounting for income taxes is a plus.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and work-paper techniques.
  • Congfident decision-maker and ability to produce accurate results with minimal supervision.
  • Strong Excel and other computer skills.
  • Ability to organize, download and upload large data files.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource software a plus.
  • Experience with accounting for fixed assets and BNA Depreciation software a plus.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
