About the role
The Sr. Tax Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of state and local sales and use tax reporting, compliance, and strategic planning. This role requires expertise in corporate, state, and local tax matters, as well as strong audit and research capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all state & local sales and use tax reporting, compliance, and planning
- Lead tax review of invoices in Accounts Payable workflow systems
- Respond and resolve all sales & use tax inquiries arising from US domestic plant locations
- Manage exemption certificate evaluation/preparation process
- Perform state & local sales & use tax audit planning and defense during internal, external, and government agency audits
- Manage outside consultants performing reverse audit services
- Assist the Tax Manager and external tax counsel with IRS and other audits as requested
- Manage budgeting, payment, and reconciliation of all Massachusetts property tax bills
- Prepare applicable account reconciliations and manage state annual report filing obligations
- Manage/Compute the Annual Cost Allocation process
- Lead data collection for annual R&D credit support (Fed, MA)
- Manage/Compute annual 1042 compliance obligations
- Maintain all compliance activities associated with existing & potential tax incentives (61A, EDIP, TIF, etc)
Requirements
- Experience in all aspects of Corporate, State and Local Sales and Use tax matters
- Experience in US Federal & State tax areas
- Experience with the Federal and Local Audit process
- Capability to analyze and make decisions
- Strong multitasking and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction from management
- Prior experience in Corporate Tax Department
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with SAP (S4), and A/P Invoicing software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or University Degree (Required)
- Master's Degree (Preferred)
- At least 5 Years of Experience
