About the role
As a Senior Staff Field Applications Engineer (FAE) on our Sales team, you'll work hand-in-hand with customers, enabling them to transform our products into cutting-edge designs while building long-lasting partnerships. This role bridges customer challenges with innovation, driving demand creation and fostering inclusive relationships across automotive accounts and our full portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Be self-driven and collaborative; partner with Sales & Marketing to drive demand creation and build inclusive, long-term customer relationships.
- Act as an FAE for direct and distribution customers; strengthen distributor partnerships to expand regional mindshare.
- Capture customer requirements and translate them into clear block diagrams; share actionable feedback with regional marketing and product lines.
- Deliver premium customer support by collaborating with second-level support; use strong interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills to provide timely, accurate responses.
- Recommend application solutions leveraging automotive applications and systems expertise; review schematics and PCB layouts, support technical reviews, troubleshooting, and potential quality issues.
- Set up, demonstrate, and support evaluation boards; work in the lab with test equipment to verify issues and validate solutions and design concepts.
- Use digital tools to manage opportunities, contacts, and tickets; maintain competitor awareness and co-create value propositions and tailored application strategies; adapt to diverse customer needs.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering; 5+ years in semiconductor/automotive (or equivalent) spanning analog, power, and digital products, including MCUs.
- Hands-on experience with MOSFETs, high-/low-side power switches, LED drivers, MCUs, Flash/RAM; high-voltage expertise with HV gate drivers, IGBTs, SiC, and GaN switches.
- Experience designing/supporting embedded systems (Tier 1/2 automotive preferred); embedded software on 32-bit CPUs using IDEs, debugging tools, and languages like Assembly, C, C++.
- Proficient in concept development, block diagrams, schematic capture, PCB layout, build/bring-up, and debugging; understanding of automotive development/qualification processes.
- Working knowledge of PSPICE, MathCAD, MATLAB, PLECS; skilled with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers; strong problem-solving and issue debug capabilities.
- Proven ability to nurture customer relationships with direct and distribution partners; adaptable to diverse applications and support needs; inclusive, collaborative communicator.
- Self-motivated, thrives in a fast-paced environment, eager to support teammates and share knowledge.
- Able to travel ~15% locally with some international travel.
Pay
Indicative salary range for this role in Livonia, United States: US$ 127,840 – US$ 175,780. Hourly rate will depend on the highest level of education completed.
