Sr. Staff Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Staff Accountant to support high-volume, full-cycle accounting operations for a team based in Miami, Florida. This long-term contract position is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage reconciliations, month-end activities, and financial reviews with accuracy and consistency. The role will contribute to maintaining reliable financial records, supporting reporting needs, and strengthening day-to-day accounting processes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle accounting activities across a high-volume environment, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare and complete bank and credit card reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving outstanding items promptly.
• Review accounts payable activity for accuracy, audit supporting documentation, and assist with AP-related follow-up when needed.
• Record and monitor accruals and prepaid expenses to support timely and accurate month-end close processes.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform detailed account analysis to maintain the integrity of financial statements.
• Support preparation and review of profit and loss results and balance sheet reporting for management and accounting review.
• Use Yardi or a comparable property accounting platform to maintain financial records, process accounting activity, and generate reporting as needed.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to identify discrepancies, improve accounting workflows, and maintain compliance with established procedures.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of accounting experience, including recent full-cycle accounting responsibility.
• Strong background in bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliation, and month-end close support.
• Experience managing accruals, expense accruals, and prepaid account activity with a high degree of accuracy.
• Working knowledge of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and related financial reviews.
• Yardi experience is strongly preferred, particularly within property accounting or real estate-related environments.
• Ability to review accounts payable activity and identify errors, exceptions, or missing support.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-volume accounting setting.
