We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations and deliver reliable financial reporting for a Long-term Contract position in Bronx, New York.
About the role
This role will oversee close activities, maintain ledger accuracy, and provide insight into financial performance across the business. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge in manufacturing, sound analytical judgment, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycle to ensure financial results are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Produce and evaluate financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, highlighting key trends and issues.
- Record and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Maintain the general ledger by monitoring account activity and preserving the accuracy of financial data.
- Manage inventory-related accounting tasks, including reconciliation work, reserve reviews, and valuation analysis.
- Examine operating results, research variances, and recommend actions that support stronger margins and more efficient operations.
- Contribute to accounting policy development, procedural improvements, and the strengthening of internal controls and compliance practices.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audit support, tax-related reporting, and collaboration with operational teams on financial process improvements.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with month-end close activities in a senior accounting capacity in the manufacturing industry.
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and completing detailed account reconciliations.
- Experience performing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and standard accounting controls and compliance requirements.
- Ability to analyze financial variances and communicate findings clearly to business partners.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
