Sr. Specialist - Employee Career Development
Requirements
The Sr. Specialist – Employee Career Development plays a key role in empowering employees to navigate their career growth and internal mobility opportunities with confidence. This position provides personalized career coaching, interview preparation, and career readiness guidance while helping employees strengthen professional materials and align their skills with organizational career pathways. Working closely with employees, managers, and HR partners, the Sr. Specialist serves as a trusted advisor, facilitating career development workshops, supporting internal talent movement, and enhancing career resources and tools.

- Provide individualized, high-impact career coaching to employees focused on:
- interview preparation and performance;
- career decision-making and readiness assessment;
- and internal mobility timing, positioning, and confidence-building.
- Provide clear guidance on internal mobility norms, best practices, and timelines, improving employees’ understanding and decision-making.
- Engage primarily with employees who have completed self-service or AI-enabled preparation, helping them interpret feedback, calibrate readiness, and refine their approach.
- Consult with employees on strengthening career-ready materials, including resumes, cover letters, portfolios, and professional networking profiles, leveraging internal resources and best practices.
- Advise employees on navigating Maximus job architecture and career streams, including role expectations, readiness signals, progression pathways, and lateral movement opportunities.
- Partner with managers to:
- support internal candidates appropriately and consistently;
- prepare employees for internal interviews and mobility conversations;
- navigate mobility discussions with clarity, fairness, and confidence.
- Facilitate targeted, high-value sessions or workshops (e.g., “Preparing for an Internal Interview,” “Supporting Internal Candidates”) for managers, HR partners, or employee populations as needed.
- Analyze coaching trends, recurring themes, and employee feedback to identify systemic barriers, skill gaps, or confusion points.
- Contribute subject-matter expertise to the continuous improvement of career toolkits, learning assets, job aids, and guidance materials, ensuring these offerings reflect real employee needs.
- Apply professional judgment and discretion when navigating ambiguous, sensitive, or emotionally complex career conversations.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 5+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Additionally, Maximus provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. An applicant's salary history will not be used in determining compensation. Maximus will comply with regulatory minimum wage rates and exempt salary thresholds in all instances.

Minimum Salary: $72,590.00
Maximum Salary: $79,797.00
