Sr Software Development Engineer, RDS Alameda
About the role
Alameda Platform is the foundation that lets service teams focus on building their product — not on deployment infrastructure, region expansion, or operational toil. Our team operates ~15,000 deployment cells across all AWS regions, serving 234 applications. We're expanding into classified partitions, simplifying our vendor experience, and looking for a senior engineer to help define what the next generation of managed service infrastructure looks like.
Key job responsibilities
Own end-to-end design and delivery of platform capabilities
Build frameworks and abstractions that eliminate repetitive work for vendor teams (deployment, monitoring, security, region expansion)
Drive architecture decisions for infrastructure-as-code (CDK/CloudFormation), orchestration, and multi-region automation
Reduce operational toil through self-healing systems and improved observability
Mentor SDEs and raise the bar through design reviews and technical standards
Operate what you build — oncall, root cause analysis, and mechanisms to prevent recurrence
