Sr. Resident Engineer/Structures Representative
Responsibilities
- Perform independent analysis and review of falsework plans
- Perform independent analysis and review of shoring plans
- Perform independent analysis of other structures construction-related submittals and plans
- Field inspection of all falsework elements
- Ensure the application of project specifications and the execution of plans
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for the different activities required for the project
- Work with the contractor on coordination of work
- Act as liaison with Project Manager
- Manage project documentation and assure contract compliance with contract requirements
- Abside by and enforce construction safety rules and regulations
- Review contractor pay estimates and submittals
- Perform field inspection duties
- Direct field inspection/support staff
- Conduct daily and weekly communication with Project Manager, Agency personnel and other senior staff
- Mentor/train staff members
- Implement firm’s quality management plan
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineering (PE) License (State of California Preferred)
- 15+ years' experience with the concepts and practices with complex bridge construction along with successfully serving as Structures Representative on at least three bridge projects on with a minimum construction value of $50 million.
- Must be experienced in oversight of company and local agency staff and sub consultants and have the ability to effectively and efficiently work with the Sector Leader and clients to assist in the resolution of project issues.
- Must be able to write effective and concise reviews comments, and reports.
- Must be able to articulately work with Contractors and other team members to effectively resolve field issues.
- Previous construction management experience for Caltrans projects, or projects that had Caltrans oversight, is a requirement.
- Steel girder bridge and precast concrete girder bridge construction experience along with work within railroad right-of-way is preferred.
