Job Responsibilities

  • Drafts complex amendments and negotiates legal terms and finalizes documents with landlords.
  • Handles liens, condemnation, and ADA matters; addresses any ADA-related real estate legal issues, landlord-tenant disputes, and/or general real estate issues.
  • Reviews, drafts miscellaneous legal agreements, such as: Exclusive Waivers, Signage Agreements, Consent/Amendments for CCRs, Easement Agreements, Non-Renewal Amendments, Settlement Agreements, any legal documents from Property Management that involve REA approval.
  • Provides consultation on dispute resolution and litigation, drafts complaints and respondents, conducts lease legal review, legal risk analysis, and drafts legal responses to landlords to mitigate exposure.
  • Drafts, negotiates, and finalizes real estate new site purchases/leases as needed.
  • Supervises one or more associates, developing and coaching paralegals, less experienced attorneys, and/or support associates, elevating their performance to meet the company’s growth strategies.
  • Affords assistance to the Vice President, Real Estate Legal and Subgroup Leader (as applicable) on selecting, hiring, and retaining Legal associates.
  • Builds and maintains valuable partnerships with critical stakeholders, both in the department and in other departments, reflected in feedback, survey scores, and acknowledgments.

Requirements

  • Law degree and licensed attorney.
  • Minimum seven years of real estate and contract negotiation experience with increasing management experience; asset management and/or retail/hospitality environment preferred.

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed initial and periodically required trainings.
  • Obtained a valid Food Handler's Card within 30 days of employment.
