General Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides legal counsel on an assigned basis to members of management and various departments concerning areas of expertise
- May lead and manage a team by training, developing and coaching team members on a consistent basis
- Oversees and evaluates the performance and progress of outside counsel representing or advising the company in department-specific matters
- Evaluates, determines and coordinates with management, regarding the appropriate action/position/response to be taken by the company
- Acts on behalf of the company and participates in the negotiation and drafting of legal documents (which may include legal court documents)
- Reviews, analyzes and makes recommendations, concerning compliance with federal and state laws and regulations affecting the company’s present and future business plans
- Recommends necessary actions to affect policy compliance and adopt the best business structure for legal compliance
- Conducts litigation or administrative proceedings affecting the company’s interests in his/her field of expertise.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree and licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
- 6+ years of experience and demonstrated competency in relevant area of law specialization
- Superior academic record
- Ability to determine appropriateness of settlement or litigation
- Excellent research and writing skills
- Strong negotiation, human relations and communications skills
- Proficient in computer PC skills including, but not limited to MS Office including: Outlook, Word, Excel and the internet
Essential Functions
- Ability to travel as required in order to meet with customers, vendors, other team members, and/or other business necessities
- Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
- Ability, on a consistent basis, to read and interpret documents and instructions from customers, vendors, and other team members
- Ability, on a consistent basis, to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other team members
- Ability, on a consistent basis, to perform work activities requiring cooperation and instruction
- Ability, on a consistent basis, to function in a fast-paced environment, under substantial pressure
- Ability, on a consistent basis, to work within the appropriate level of independence
- Ability, on a consistent basis, to report regularly to work and maintain established business hours in order to support the FedEx Office business; regular attendance and/or reporting could include regular attendance at a physical location and/or maintaining established business hours depending on the scope and nature of the position

- Works with management to reduce company costs/wastes, and to optimize profitability in areas of responsibility
- Applies Quality concepts presented at training during daily activities
- Supports FedEx Office Quality initiatives
Pay
Pay is commensurate with experience.
