Under the direction of the Senior Manager, NPD Engineering, the Senior Project Engineer - Standards and Compliance will support the development of innovative products and assure current product compliance to federal, state, and local regulations. The Senior Project Engineer - Standards and Regulations will provide technical support to the business through expertise of codes and standards related to products, and coordinate certification and compliance with Government and independent test agencies.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Act as Generator, ATS, and Electronic Engineering interpreter and primary contact in obtaining and maintaining third-party listings such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), NFPA, FCC, NEC and other domestic code agencies.
  • Obtain product approvals and provide support for interpreting and meeting local regulations such as Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, City of Los Angeles, City of Chicago, Ontario, and other city, state, and country regulations.
  • Maintain accurate files of codes, standards, laws, rules and other necessary documentation.
  • Provide clear and concise feedback and information relating to standard changes in a timely manner to key business decision makers.
  • Prioritize and administer product testing outside of Rehlko’s capabilities at outside laboratories. Examples include high current, EMC, cold/hot ambient, vibration, and reduced set back testing.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering and Marketing on New Product Development as a resource for codes and standards product and testing requirements.
  • Prepare and provide training to a variety of audiences, both internal and external.
  • Collaborate with Rehlko’s Group Compliance team on global topics and alignment with best practices across the businesses, including continuous improvement efforts.
  • Review and approve lab test results for third-party agency submittals.
  • Maintain and submit product files for all Rehlko and Kohler Home Energy listed products.
  • Support strategic planning and budgeting of certification costs and resources.
  • Collaborate and lead audits by third-party agencies required to achieve and maintain listings. Examples include UL Data Acceptance Program (DAP) and CSA Category Program for Certification (CPC).
  • Gain membership to standards organizations and agency technical committees to represent Rehlko’s best interests within the home energy industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering field is required (preferably mechanical, electrical or industrial)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related work experience is required, with experience related to standby, prime, or consumer generator business preferred.
  • Familiarity with laws, standards, and procedures associated with UL, CSA, EPA, CARB, ISO, NFPA, CE RED, PTCRB and generator safety is preferred.

Salary Range

The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. The Salary range for this position is $89,800.00-$114,100.00.
