Sr. Product Design Engineer, Data Center Engineering, Electrical Products and Services

About the role

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a Senior Product Design Engineer for the Electrical Products and Services engineering team. This team is responsible for the design and continuous innovation of products used within our rapidly expanding data center footprint. The role involves designing and developing resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution products and systems.

Responsibilities

• Supports the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop innovative concepts into new products needed for power distribution for data center.
• Lead new product design, development, and work with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input.
• Collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical and structural engineering, reliability, QA/QC and compliance to create well thought out products.
• Create designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements while delivering a return on investment.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment, devices and bill of materials.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries.
• Prepare, Review and approval of product design and drawings including electrical bill of materials, configuration, layouts, assembly, construction and electrical wiring drawings.
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during manufacturing phases.
• Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly set up test processes and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
• Able to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
• Support of Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review.
• Be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.
• Having fun while offering creative, out-of-the-box solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• 4+ Years of experience of Electrical or Mechanical Product Design for Power Distribution Equipment, or 4+ years of Data Center or Mission-Critical Design, Construction, or Operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• 6+ Years of experience of Electrical or Mechanical Product Design for Power Distribution Equipment, or 6+ years of Data Center or Mission-Critical Design, Construction, or Operations.

Skills

• Design and development of electrical power distribution equipment such as Low Voltage Switchgear, Power Distribution Cabinets or LV panel boards.
• Ability to design and develop innovative concepts into new products needed for power distribution for data center.
• Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
• Ability to support Operations including failure mode and root cause analysis, maintenance and troubleshooting support, and operating procedure review.

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Pay

Base salary range for this position is $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually.
