About the role
The Amazon Air (AIR) Process Engineer (PE) team drives process stabilization, standardization, and continuous improvement. As a Process Engineer, you will manage the relationship between cost, speed, and service by developing innovative ideas that create value for customers. You’ll identify and solve process defects, analyze data, apply engineering principles, and use project management skills to implement change. Process Engineers act locally but build globally, standardizing Amazon Air’s operations.
This position is based in Lakeland, FL, and requires working on-site.
Responsibilities
- Develop standard work, benchmarking, and auditing capabilities.
- Collect, consolidate, and report performance data to Operations Integrations teams.
- Program manage large-scale projects, collaborating with Amazon Customer Excellence System (ACES) and Process Engineering teams to ensure successful implementation of change.
- Work directly with internal customers/partners to identify network capacity and constraints.
- Collect and interpret operating cost data.
- Review proposals for new equipment and services.
- Pull, analyze, and report data from databases using tools like Excel, Access, SQL, or other data management systems.
- Participate in long-term planning and modeling sessions.
- Travel up to 25% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2+ years of experience directly managing and being responsible for multiple large projects.
- 4+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma, and other operations engineering tools.
- Experience in Logistics, Distribution, or Fulfillment processes.
- Experience creating process improvements through automation and analysis, or building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem-solving.
- Experience and strong technical background in automated or non-automated material handling equipment.
- Ability to work under pressure in a cross-functional organization.
- Eligibility to pass security screenings required by the FAA, DHS, and TSA, and ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable.
This position is designated as safety-sensitive and requires pre-employment and, where permitted, post-hire drug testing due to the need for full and unimpaired skills and judgment to ensure safety and security.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or an equivalent STEM field.
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems, as well as high-speed manufacturing.
- Experience with financial and statistical modeling.
- Experience in layout design.
Pay
The base salary range for this position varies by location:
- Lakeland, FL: $119,600 – $161,700 USD annually
- San Bernardino, CA: $119,600 – $161,700 USD annually
- Rockford, IL: $119,600 – $161,700 USD annually
- Erlanger, KY: $119,600 – $161,700 USD annually
- Baltimore, MD: $119,600 – $161,700 USD annually
- Wilmington, OH: $119,600 – $161,700 USD annually
- Nashville, TN: $107,600 – $145,600 USD annually
- Fort Worth, TX: $119,600 – $161,700 USD annually
- Bellevue, WA: $119,600 – $161,700 USD annually
Compensation includes sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
