About the role
The Sr. Process Engineer is responsible for leading the design and execution of process systems, including developing design bases, evaluating process options, and optimizing unit performance. This role performs and oversees a full range of process engineering activities—such as simulations, heat and material balances, equipment sizing, and safety studies—while ensuring alignment with industry standards and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Leads the design of a process unit, including establishing process design basis, development of process options, and optimization of selected design.
- Performs and oversees all aspects of engineering and design, including feasibility & optimization studies, process simulations & heat/material balances, process equipment sizing, and relief calculations & flare network modeling.
- Provides technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel and assigns tasks to and supervises the work of less senior process personnel.
- Supports project management with reporting, scheduling, staff planning, and coordination, and ensures that engineering calculations and drawings are in accordance with industry codes and standards.
- Initiates and maintains regular communication between the process team and all other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of work and consistent technical content.
- Prepares drawings such as BFDs, PFDs, and P&IDs, and leads and participates in HAZOP, HAZID, and SIL rating studies.
- Develops suitable process conditions and specifications (e.g., pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, fired heaters, and distillation columns).
Qualifications
- BSc, MSc or equivalent in Process / Chemical Engineering is required.
- 10+ years of experience, with onshore compressor stations experience preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
