Sr. Process Engineer
About the role
The Optical Communications segment of Corning is evolving from a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware, and equipment to a comprehensive provider of optical solutions. This segment is divided into two main product groups: carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network focuses on optical-based communications infrastructure for video, data, and voice communications, while the enterprise network serves businesses, governments, and individuals.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day problem-solving support to production operations
- Analyze data to understand process capability and monitor process trends to drive manufacturing excellence
- Identify process improvement and cost reduction projects based on process data analysis
- Prepare cost justifications and capital requests for new equipment purchases
- Interface with operators, team leaders, and peers to develop and implement process, equipment, or safety improvements
- Oversee all aspects of bringing new equipment into production, including financial justification, design, specification, purchasing, and tracking spending related to the project. Develop maintenance and operator training documentation, conduct equipment qualification, and train production personnel. Make provisions for repair parts stock levels. Document all aspects of the project formally.
- Support the transfer of new cabling technology, materials, or processes from development to production. Provide processing support during product development, develop plans for employing new technology in production, and ensure the new technology is repeatable in a production environment before transfer. Ensure all production and maintenance documentation is completed such as MI's, SOP's, PM's, and calibration.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing environment
- Creative/innovative problem solving
- Strong technical fundamentals with process engineering skills
- Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions
- Results-oriented and high commitment
- The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
- Technical Project Management experience, including Cost Estimation, Project Planning, and Execution
- Data analysis skills to make decisions
Qualifications
- Experience with Statistical packages such as Minitab and data preparation with SQL
- Knowledge of plastic extrusion technologies, cabling processes and equipment, and/or UV Curable technologies
- Six Sigma Greenbelt or equivalent experience
Skills
- Technical Project Management experience, including Cost Estimation, Project Planning, and Execution

Pay
$97,286.00 - $133,768.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

8am - 5pm, support off shift as needed
