Sr. Process Engineer
About the Role
Avantor is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer to work with business leaders on select projects and productivity process improvements that align with business goals and strategies. This full-time, onsite position is located at our Carpinteria, CA or Bakersfield, CA offices. The role requires up to 25% travel to Avantor distribution centers in Carpinteria, CA; Bakersfield, CA; Irving, TX; and Visalia, CA.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to implementing new distribution processes, tools, data standards, or distribution strategies to optimize inventory flow or improve delivery timelines.
- Manage distribution-related projects and/or processes, including performance tracking, process automation, or system enhancements.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using tools like Kaizen and Lean methodologies.
- Address problems and issues with a diverse scope, such as demand fluctuations or cost trade-offs, by analyzing supply chain data and market conditions.
- Derive solutions based on limited information or precedents, often using forecasting models or distribution analytics tools.
- Communicate with internal and external parties, including supply chain, procurement, IT, and external stakeholders.
- Manage data through data mining, modeling, analysis, cost/benefit analysis, process mapping, and problem analysis to support logistics management.
- Clarify and resolve complex business issues.
- Perform research and benchmarking on industry best practices related to warehousing and transportation.
- Systematically interact with process owners and users to obtain feedback and verify performance.
- Optimize resources and processes in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Write SOPs and training documents to establish standard work and develop initial documents for new processes and systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- College degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of directly applicable experience in a similar position.
Skills
- SAP EWM experience desired.
- Proficiency using MS Office Suite, including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
- Knowledge and successful implementation of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methods and Lean Logistics.
- Excellent project and people management skills with a strong understanding of logistics.
- Ability to motivate associates using effective interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage vendor/business relationships.
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, problem identification, and resolution skills.

Pay
The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $77,500.00 - $124,200.00. Actual pay may differ depending on prior experience and geographic location.
