About the role

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Engineer Electronics – Mission Processing to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Melbourne, FL location.

This position has NO Hybrid or Remote work available. The selected Engineer must possess in-depth knowledge of computers and electronics for mission processing, displays data storage, Networks, CDS/MLS, Crypto and experience in the definition, design, integration, test, and certification of related hardware and software requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams and specifications
  • Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate mission management subsystems to meet platform mission objectives
  • Technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support
  • Developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
  • Building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
  • Review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of related professional/military experience

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with network, commercial cloud, platform infrastructures and containerized software architecture
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering processes and environments
  • Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment
  • Experience engaging directly with internal and external technical and programmatic representatives
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently and work in a self-directed manner
  • Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools
  • Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
  • Experience AND/OR Certification with cloud and container management & security technologies such as VMWare, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, Redhat OpenShift, Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Nomad
