About the role
The MGB Cancer Institute in Danvers is seeking a dedicated Sr. Practice Assistant to provide expert coordination of patient scheduling and partner closely with clinical and administrative teams. Your work will help ensure seamless access to care, efficient clinic operations, and an exceptional experience for every patient and provider.
Performs administrative functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service and practice operations, including patient visits, scheduling, check-in, check-out, appointment records, and handling routine inquiries. Acts as a "Super User" for scheduling, registration, and billing systems, providing assistance and training to others. Handles prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results.
Responsibilities
- Perform administrative duties related to patient visits, including scheduling, check-in, and check-out at the highest proficiency level.
- Make and maintain patient appointments and records.
- Assist callers with routine inquiries and triage matters appropriately.
- Process patient billing forms and scan documents to the patient medical record (EPIC).
- Act as "Super User" for scheduling, registration, and billing systems; provide training and assistance to others.
- Perform complex or specialized functions such as surgical scheduling, schedule changes, and blocking.
- Handle, screen, and take messages related to prior authorizations, provider questions, prescription refills, and test results.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required (experience cannot substitute for degree).
- 3-5 years of office experience.
Skills
- Strong technology and MS Office skills (Advanced Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of office operations, standards, and procedures (filing, copying, scanning, printing, faxing).
- Ability to manage non-routine phone calls and solve routine issues.
- Effective written and verbal communication, including composing/editing emails, memos, and letters.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and follow established protocols.
- Ability to proofread and edit written documents.
Additional Details
This is an onsite role located at 102 Endicott Street, Danvers.
Pay
$19.37 - $27.71/hourly (Grade 4). Base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other factors. The total compensation package includes competitive base pay, comprehensive benefits, career advancement opportunities, differentials, premiums, bonuses, and recognition programs.
