International Motors is seeking a Sr. Plant Human Resources Manager to join our Powertrain Plant in Huntsville, a technologically advanced facility producing high-quality diesel engines and transmissions. This role integrates business strategy, Lean Manufacturing, and organizational capability to drive plant performance as part of our transformation toward the International Way. The successful candidate will act as a member of the Plant Leadership Team, owning end-to-end people outcomes and fostering a high-performing culture.

About the Role

The Sr. Plant Human Resources Manager will serve as a strategic HR advisor, embedding Lean Manufacturing behaviors, building leadership capability, strengthening employee relations, and creating a high-engagement culture aligned with the International Way. This leader will partner with the Plant Director and HRX Enabling Hubs to deliver end-to-end solutions while maintaining a visible presence on the manufacturing floor (Gemba).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as strategic HR advisor and HRX Business Integrator to the Plant Director.
  • Lead employee relations, engagement, leadership coaching, and people engagement initiatives.
  • Maintain daily visible presence on the manufacturing floor (Gemba).
  • Develop workforce plans aligned to production strategy.
  • Lead recruiting, succession planning, performance management, and talent development.
  • Partner with HRX Enabling Hubs and Shared Solutions to deliver end-to-end HR solutions.
  • Use workforce analytics and operational metrics to drive decisions.
  • Apply Lean principles to simplify HR processes and eliminate waste.
  • Ensure compliance while improving employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of human resources or labor experience, or
  • Master’s degree and at least 5 years of human resources or labor experience, or
  • At least 10 years of human resources or labor experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of lead experience in a relevant role.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on an unrestricted basis (U.S. Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee). Work sponsorship (e.g., H-1B) is not provided for this position.

Qualifications

  • Human Resources leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, with increasing responsibility supporting operational leaders.
  • Demonstrated success partnering directly with plant leadership to improve business performance through people strategies.
  • Proven experience supporting non-union manufacturing operations, with a strong track record of fostering positive employee relations and maintaining a union-free environment.
  • Expertise in employee relations, talent acquisition, workforce planning, performance management, compensation administration, leadership coaching, and organizational development.
  • Ability to influence leaders, drive organizational change, and manage multiple business priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using workforce analytics and operational metrics to support business decisions and measure organizational effectiveness.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and manufacturing workforce practices.
  • Experience within commercial vehicle, automotive, powertrain, heavy manufacturing, or high-volume industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated application of Lean Manufacturing principles, Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, or equivalent operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience serving as a member of a Plant Leadership Team and partnering with senior operational leaders.
  • Proven success leading organizational transformation, culture change, or business integration initiatives.
  • Experience implementing HR technology, process standardization, or Lean HR initiatives that improve efficiency and employee experience.
