About the role
We are seeking a Sr Planner Scheduler to join our Energy team in Houston, TX, reporting to the Practice Lead, to support the delivery of projects with a particular focus on large scale energy projects.
- Develop project schedules for Engineering, Procurement and Construction stages of large scale projects.
- Lead Interactive Planning and Construction Planning Sessions – ensuring that comprehensive schedules are developed using industry best practices and benchmarking data.
- Work with stakeholders to identify resources and man hours required to complete project activities and maintain accurate estimate to complete man hours throughout duration.
- Ensure all activity links are logic-driven and are aligned with project deliverables, Project Execution Plan (PEP), Contracting Strategy and Workforce Planning.
- Update schedule progress through all project stages in accordance with processes and procedures validating work completed, communicating deviations and variances in a timely manner.
- Interface with contractors on all schedule related matters validating contractor schedules for accuracy and or overseeing contractor direct inputs to the master control schedule.
- Certify that Field Performance updates are being captured in the project schedules, and progress captured remains accurate at all times.
- Closely monitor schedule performance against key performance indicators using systems such as Earned Value for productivity, trending and early warning identification.
- Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float maintaining accuracy of schedule at all times.
- Prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis on a periodic basis and lead progress communications and update meetings.
- Perform schedule analysis and report findings, including critical path(s), longest path, milestone deviations and slippage analysis. Assist in developing recovery plans.
- Account for approved change orders in the schedule and analyze their impact on the project. Re-baselining if applicable.
- Support Schedule, Estimate and Cost integration during development phases in support of baseline approval efforts.
- Draft Schedule Development, Schedule Basis and Schedule Management project documentation and provide input to Project Controls Plans and support project assurance process.
- Participate in continuous improvement scopes of work and have a direct and profound effect on a data-driven organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related field, or 8 years of relevant construction experience, or alternatively 8 years proven experience directly in a Planning and Scheduling environment.
- Certification with AACE, PMI or CMAA is preferred.
- Basic communication, verbal and written skills.
- Experienced in supporting both programs and large-scale major projects in both Cost and Schedule driven capacities.
- Experienced in process plant related projects within energy industry such as Oil+Gas, Power, Nuclear etc.
- Must be fluent in the use of Primavera P6 with good understanding of system integration and industry standard support tools.
- Strong understanding of project Engineering phases such as Conceptual, FEED and Detail Design and associated scope with each phase.
- Must have strong understanding of CPM (Critical Path Method) concepts and industry standard Quality Assurance.
- Must thoroughly understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of earned value concepts, calculations, and rules of credit.
- Must be highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.
- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Pay
Expected compensation range is between $150,000 - $170,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
