Responsibilities

  • Greets and registers patients for diagnostic procedures.
  • Answers telephone and directs calls to appropriate areas.
  • Trains co-workers on an as-needed basis.
  • Verifies complete and accurate patient information in registration.
  • Enters physicians orders into Last Word or other systems, prepares daily schedules as appropriate.
  • Schedules department procedures in systems used and relays exam preparation instructions as appropriate.
  • Assists the physician in documenting notes and in doing orders and prescriptions by setting them up in the Electronic Medical Record. All documents, prescriptions, and orders will be pended to the physician to review, edit, and sign as appropriate.
  • Completes patient tracking and record keeping in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintains appropriate records as needed.
  • Participates in quality assurance and documentation activities through verifying and maintaining complete and accurate demographic data.
  • Participates in corporate compliance activities in accordance with established institutional, state, and regulatory requirements.
  • Acts as the practice advocate for patients, physicians, visitors, and employees regarding front desk information and patient flow.
  • Coordinates updating insurance changes or adding new insurance information into the appropriate registration fields.
  • Verifies insurance/referral information on file in EPIC or other systems used and identifies those that need new updates.
  • Acts as liaison with clinical secretaries, nurses, credentialing staff for practice issues and those issues affecting patient flow and registration.
  • Collaborates with Practice Manager to develop ongoing training for the Patient Service Representatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (Required)
  • One to two years experience in Healthcare customer service
