Sr. Oracle SQL Analyst

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Works with large, normalized Oracle transactional databases.
• Extracts, validates, analyzes, automates, and maintains operational data.
• Develops, maintains, and optimizes complex Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programs.
• Writes simple and complex SQL queries from scratch against normalized Oracle transactional databases.
• Analyzes business requirements and determines the appropriate tables, relationships, joins, and business rules needed to answer complex business questions.
• Extracts, validates, transforms, and analyzes operational data for reporting, research, grants, and executive requests.
• Develops and maintains automated SQL processes, scheduled database jobs, and recurring data refreshes.
• Troubleshoots SQL scripts, automated jobs, and data quality issues.
• Supports recurring operational reports, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), legislative reporting, and research initiatives.
• Collaborates with business users to understand reporting needs and communicates analytical findings.
• Supports Tableau dashboards and other data visualization initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Oracle SQL development against transactional databases.
• Writing complex SQL (joins, CTEs, subqueries, CASE, aggregate and analytic functions).
• Normalized relational database design and table relationships.
• Oracle PL/SQL (procedures, functions, packages, views).
• SQL job scheduling and automated database processes.
• SQL troubleshooting, query optimization, and data validation.
• Translating business requirements into SQL solutions.
• Operational reporting and data analysis.
• Tableau or other data visualization software.
• Criminal justice or other large transactional database environments.
• Experience developing SQL from scratch rather than primarily working with data warehouses, semantic models, or pre-built Business Intelligence datasets.
