Responsibilities

Senior Managers are responsible for ownership/In-Charge of complex engagements for affordable housing real estate clients, with a focus on Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) entities. The responsibilities can be broken down into three main areas:

60% of the time will be spent on client work, including:

  • Executing complex affordable housing and LIHTC audit and tax engagements from start to finish
  • Coordinating all phases of an engagement: planning, staff scheduling, field work, review process & communication to client
  • Supervising the preparation of all work products to be provided to the client
  • Communicating directly with client personnel and other third parties
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to affordable housing developers, ownership groups, management companies, syndicators, and nonprofit organizations

30% of the time will be spent on supervision and leadership, including:

  • Assigning work to staff members based on their knowledge and capabilities
  • Performing quality control reviews
  • Preparing and discussing staff performance evaluations
  • Participating in the training of staff members and offering guidance and direction
  • Accountable for staff performance, engagement, and retention

10% of the time will be spent on professional, personal, and business development, including:

  • Identifying meaningful complex topics to research and proposing findings
  • Serving as a mentor to multiple members of the accounting staff
  • Facilitating professional development courses and representing SVA at professional and civic functions
  • Continuing to deepen expertise in a technical area, industry, or service line

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 9+ years’ experience in public accounting, including significant experience serving affordable housing, real estate, and/or LIHTC clients
  • CPA certification
  • Deep knowledge of partnership taxation, affordable housing accounting, LIHTC structures, and real estate financial reporting
  • Familiarity with HUD, RD, and state housing authority reporting preferred
