Sr Management Analyst
Salary Range: $76,328.00 - $95,409.50. This is an exempt (salary) position. Pay rates are based on education, skill, experience level, and internal equity.
About the role
The Department of Community Resources (DCR) supports the core departments of Mecklenburg County Health and Human Services (HHS) through an integrated service delivery model. DCR administers Child Support Services, Economic Services, MeckSuccess, HOMES, Unified Workforce Development programs, and Integrated Health and Human Services Mail Services.
This position reports to the Sr Strategy & Planning Manager and involves gathering and analyzing departmental data to support strategic planning and operational efficiency. The role includes projects assigned by the Senior Executive Team, dashboard reporting, implementation, and maintenance. On-site support is required Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis, advising management on results.
- Manage and support internal department program initiatives.
- Recommend adjustments to department procedures and workflows.
- Assist in establishing goals and objectives under department management guidance.
- Respond to requests from State, County, local municipality government, or community stakeholders.
- Manage projects aligned with Strategic Business Plan goals.
- Gather and organize information to solve problems or improve procedures.
- Interview personnel and conduct on-site observations to assess methods, equipment, and personnel needs.
- Analyze financial and operational data, including revenue, expenditure, customer, resource centers, and employment reports.
- Develop solutions or alternative practices and recommend new systems, procedures, or organizational changes.
- Present recommendations to management through reports or presentations.
- Confer with managers to ensure changes are working effectively.
- Assist with implementation and roll-out of process changes/updates.
- Manage internal projects and initiatives within the team.
- Support and manage Departmental workplans.
- Respond to urgent or emergent events requiring public health interventions (e.g., communicable disease outbreaks, severe weather, natural disasters).li>
- Serve on the emergency management team on a two-year rotating cycle.
Requirements
- Minimum of four years of experience in a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Statistics, Data Analysis, or a related field. A combination of relevant education and experience may be accepted.
- Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License may be required.
- Annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of quantitative data analysis experience.
- Strong skills in SQL, Excel, PowerQuery, and Power BI or comparable data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of Health and Human Services programs.
- Training and experience in research methodology and statistical analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage complex tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and establish positive relationships with customers.
- Knowledge of performance management concepts.
