Pay Rate: $23.96 - $25.04 per hour
Schedule: 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday through Friday (Saturday & Sunday off)
About the Role
To perform various skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of machinery, buildings, and equipment; to perform work of a skilled level in several trades; and related work as required.
Receives general directions and instructions from a superior with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment; work is reviewed on completion. Supervises helpers and others who are assigned to assist.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex duties related to the maintenance of plumbing fixtures, steam lines, steam heating, and cooking equipment.
- Repair hospital sterilizers.
- Cut, thread, and install pipe for steam and water lines.
- Repair wall plugs and lighting equipment; repair and recondition fans.
- Make repairs and adjustments to laundry washing, drying, and pressing machinery; supervise helpers in the oiling and greasing of this equipment.
- Operate lathes, millers, drills, and other machine shop equipment.
- Paint buildings, walls, or other surfaces.
- Perform masonry work in connection with buildings, foundations, walks, and walls.
- Repair doors, door frames, and furniture; fabricate and install temporary partitions; operate and maintain wood lathes, sanders, joiners, power saws, planes, and related power and hand tools.
- Make repairs to roofs and install flashing and spouts.
- Make minor repairs on refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
- Weld and braze metals using arc and acetylene welders.
- Perform related work as required.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Capacities:
- A working knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and processes involved in trades related to general building maintenance.
- A working knowledge of the operation of mechanical equipment.
- A working knowledge of the use of common tools and materials.
- Ability to make varied repairs without supervision.
- Ability to supervise a small group of helpers.
- Ability to work from pencil sketches and diagrams.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of ten school grades.
- Employment in building and plant maintenance work involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
- Any combination of education and experience that is substantially equivalent to the above.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications may include additional experience or certifications in related trades.
