About the role

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Litigation Paralegal to support a wide range of litigation and pre-litigation matters for a service-focused organization in California. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for an experienced legal specialist who can manage complex case activity, partner effectively with attorneys and outside counsel, and bring strong structure to legal operations. The role offers the chance to contribute across employment, commercial, civil, and other business-related disputes while helping maintain organized, efficient legal processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation and pre-dispute matters from intake through resolution by coordinating document collection, factual development, witness logistics, discovery activities, and communication with external counsel.
  • Administer the legal hold process by preparing hold notices, tracking preservation efforts, and supporting compliance across active matters.
  • Perform targeted legal research and detailed factual review to assist attorneys with case strategy, risk assessment, and response planning.
  • Prepare draft legal materials for attorney review, including separation agreements, agency charge responses, subpoena-related correspondence, and other case documentation.
  • Evaluate subpoenas, records demands, and formal legal requests, then help coordinate timely and accurate responses.
  • Maintain well-organized case and investigation files, update litigation tracking databases, and support consistent reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Improve litigation support workflows, recordkeeping practices, and legal operations procedures to strengthen efficiency, consistency, and accountability within the legal function.
  • Assist with administrative aspects of legal matters, including reviewing invoices, coordinating payment activity, and helping process settlements.
  • Contribute to additional legal and operational projects as priorities evolve and business needs arise.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate or formal paralegal training required.
  • At least 10 years of paralegal experience, including 6 or more years focused on litigation matters.
  • Demonstrated background handling cases across the full litigation lifecycle, from early assessment through final resolution.
  • Prior in-house paralegal experience is strongly preferred, particularly with employment-related disputes.
  • Proven ability to build or refine processes, workflows, and tools in a changing legal or corporate environment, including exposure to legal AI solutions.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, and litigation management platforms, paired with excellent written communication, organization, judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating with internal stakeholders, outside counsel, vendors, and e-discovery partners on competing priorities.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $45 to $60 per hour based on experience.

Benefits

  • Medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
  • Eligibility to enroll in the company 401(k) plan.
