About the Role
Design, develop, and test applications using JAVA technologies to facilitate the full application development lifecycle from development to QA to production. Gain an understanding of the current system infrastructure, security needs, network considerations, and methodologies. This role primarily focuses on JAVA programming and supporting the organization's ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Ensure technologies are updated with current, stable, and compliant architecture and applications that meet enterprise standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to produce software design and architecture.
- Develop, test, and deploy applications and systems.
- Revise, update, refactor, and debug code.
- Improve existing JAVA applications and systems.
- Proactively monitor and report performance utilization of assigned technologies.
- Troubleshoot software and/or hardware issues/failures.
- Manage problems or escalated tickets and tasks, including out-of-cycle requests from systems/software owners.
- Determine the best course of action for meeting business needs and provide consultative expertise to customers on system usage.
- Proactively monitor and identify broader, complex issues across multiple integrated technologies and communicate as appropriate.
- Provide technical knowledge and support to District agencies, personnel, and additional stakeholders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- May coordinate activities of application developers.
- Identify best practices and standards for product usage.
- Deliver support and design for industry-specific applications requiring integration with statewide systems or applications.
- Interact with executive-level business users or technical experts.
- May function as a niche technical Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Demonstrate expertise in conveying technical and functional concepts for a specific technical specialty.
- Identify improvements to project standards to achieve high-quality services/products.
- Coordinate programming activities conducted by the application development team.
- Confer with business and technical personnel to resolve problems of intent, inaccuracy, or feasibility of computer processing and project design.
- Work with personnel to determine necessity for modifications or enhancements.
- Leverage excellent written and verbal communication skills to develop new business process and programming solutions as directed by stakeholders.
- Proven track record of hands-on technical design and code work within large complex systems.
- Proven hands-on technical work with a variety of technologies.
- Demonstrated technical expertise integrating diverse technical environments and cross-platform technologies.
- Advanced experience in the required technical subject matter.
- Proven experience across large and complex implementations and systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
- 16+ years of experience preparing complex technical documentation.
- 16+ years conveying technical and functional concepts for a specific technical specialty.
Skills
- Core JAVA development with strong back-end development experience.
- JAVA – Annotations, Generics, Reflection, Inheritance, OO Design, NIO, Bean Validation.
- Spring Boot Application Development.
- Spring – Java Config, Dependency Injection, Autowiring Concepts.
- Spring Integration and Web Services Development.
- Synchronous and Asynchronous programming – Callbacks, Future, Timeout, and Error Handling.
- MAVEN Project Build experience.
- GIT version control repository.
- Tomcat/Jetty/Undertow Application Servers.
- LINUX working environment.
- JIRA Issue tracker.
- RedHat OpenShift Container-based application development and deployment.
- Working with mainframe CICS containers and channels using JCA connectors.
- Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Development practices.
- Enough experience to qualify for a Master Level position.
