Sr Java Developer

Core Responsibilities

• Lead the technical transition of legacy Spring MVC/Hibernate applications (JDK 7) to modern Java 21 standards.
• Replace legacy JSP and Taglib-based views with a modern, responsive React, TypeScript, and Node.js stack.
• Build and maintain end-to-end features, ensuring seamless integration between modern React components and Spring-based RESTful APIs.
• Manage and optimize relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL), ensuring data integrity and performance during the transition from legacy Hibernate mappings to modern ORM practices.
• Utilize and experiment with modern AI tooling to accelerate code refactoring, documentation, and migration workflows.
• Support the migration of these refactored services to AWS GovCloud, ensuring high availability and federal security compliance.

Required Technical Expertise

• Deep experience with Web development and a strong understanding of Spring Web/MVC and Hibernate ORM.
• Mastery of HTML5, CSS3, and Modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Professional experience building complex SPAs using React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Advanced Relational Database skills (SQL, schema design, query optimization) with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience moving from monolithic JSP-based architectures to decoupled API-driven architectures.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related IT field.
• US Citizenship or Green Card (Required for federal background investigation).
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Full-Stack Java Development.
• Proven track record of building/migrating enterprise applications from the ground up.
• Expertise in the "Migration Stack": Java 21, Spring MVC, Hibernate, React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
• Understanding of security best practices for web applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to design efficient, scalable solutions.
• Proficiency in GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
• Experience documenting technical requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specific experience migrating legacy JSPs and Taglibs to React components (JDK 7 to JDK 21).
• Experience with AWS GovCloud and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and Agile tools (JIRA/Confluence).
• Experience with the US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).
• Experience working onsite with clients, government client preferred.
