Sr. IP Docketing Specialist
About the role
The Senior IP Docketing Specialist plays a critical role in supporting attorneys, clients, and IP professionals by maintaining accurate docket records, managing critical deadlines, and ensuring the integrity of the Firm’s intellectual property portfolio management processes. This position serves as a subject matter expert in IP docketing and provides guidance, mentorship, and training to junior docketing staff while helping drive consistency, efficiency, and risk management across the department.
Responsibilities
- Review and docket U.S., international, and foreign patent and trademark correspondence
- Open and close matters and deadlines within the docketing system
- Maintain accurate docket records and detailed database notes
- Cook up and transfer client and matter transfers
- Aid in patent renewals, maintenance fees, and annuity processes
- Support attorneys and staff by providing docketing guidance, generating reports and queries, monitoring workflow, and ensuring compliance with jurisdiction-specific requirements across domestic and international intellectual property matters
Requirements
- Highest level of detail orientation, analysis, and organization
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload while maintaining exceptional accuracy
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and a collaborative mindset
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least 10 years of intellectual property prosecution and docketing experience
- Demonstrated experience training and mentoring others
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Experience with intellectual property docketing systems
- Experience with FoundationIP preferred
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. and international patent and trademark prosecution procedures, docketing best practices, and intellectual property portfolio management
Benefits
Typical pay range is from $100,000 – $115,000+ depending on experience. Bonuses are awarded in recognition of individual and firm performance. Pay
Typical pay range is from $100,000 – $115,000+ depending on experience.
