Sr. HIM Technician
About the role
Coordinates records availability, selection of incomplete records for delivery to surgery, and other units as needed. Uses the system to analyze records; filing documents in workroom records; and for filing incomplete records in the workroom.
Responsibilities
- Reviews incomplete lists for discharge dates and researches problems to assure discharges are completed.
- Answers the phone and greets customers.
- Assists employees in finding records in the workroom.
- Analyzes records of physicians and informs them of any missing items.
- Updates the facility list when records are complete and resolves problems.
- Processes and distributes letters for physicians’, working with all departments and staff to coordinate chart completion.
- Maintains accurate suspensions and record keeping of physician suspension processes.
- Pulls records, files incomplete and updated records back onto shelves.
- Files completed and updated records in the pre-file shelves for the master file.
- Affords assistance to physicians in complete records.
- Maintains, declutters, cleans a quiet space for the physician to work and ensures they have a workspace and supplies as needed.
Requirements
- Education and Work Experience: High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Two years' healthcare experience: Preferred

Regularly works with sensitive and confidential information, often involving the interpretation of policies and procedures to guide use.
Skills
Substantial knowledge of the job and experience to complete a wide range of activities with varying difficulty.

Pay
The estimated base pay for this position is $25.00 to $30.01. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
